What is the NDA Exam?
The National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance exam is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. This national-level exam occurs twice a year (NDA I &
NDA II). To qualify, candidates must first clear the written test, followed by the SSB interview, a rigorous personality and intelligence assessment. After clearing both stages, successful candidates undergo training at the NDA, followed by specialized training at respective military academies before being commissioned as officers.
Eligibility Criteria for NDA Exam
To enroll in NDA coaching in Chandigarh at Chanakya Defence Group, candidates must meet the
following eligibility criteria:
Age Limit: 16.5 to 19 years (as per UPSC guidelines) Nationality: Indian citizen or:
- A subject of Bhutan/Nepal
- A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India before January 1, 1962
- Marital Status: Unmarried candidates only
- Educational Qualification: Passed or appearing in the 12th standard with Physics and
Mathematics for Air Force & Navy; any stream for Army.
Candidates who marry during training will not be selected, and expenses incurred by the government will be recovered.

1). Below is a list of the subjects of the written examination, the number of questions, and the maximum marks each subject is allowed.

NDA Educational Qualification: 2025 – Check Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam 2025, candidates must meet the following
educational qualifications:
- Eligibility for Army Wing (NDA): Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized State Board or University under the 10+2 school education system.
- Eligibility for Naval & Air Force Wings (NDA): Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and
Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized State Education Board or University. - Appearing Candidates: Students currently appearing in Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination are
also eligible to apply for the NDA 2025 exam.

Selection Process for NDA – Step-by-Step Guide
- Filling out the Application Form:
NDA application forms can be filled out online by visiting the official UPSC website. After the
application process closes, the Commission releases a list of rejected candidates. - Release of Admit Card: The NDA Admit Card is released three weeks before the exam. Candidates can
download it from the official website. - NDA Written Exam: Candidates must appear for the NDA written exam, which consists of two sections:
• Mathematics
• General Ability Test (GAT)
• The total marks for the written exam are 900.
• Candidates scoring the minimum qualifying marks are shortlisted for the SSB interview. - Declaration of NDA Result:
NDA results are announced online in two stages:
• Written Exam Results (published in PDF format)
• Final Results (includes roll numbers of qualified candidates)
• Candidates must secure the NDA cutoff for both the written exam and SSB interview. - SSB Interview Process:
The SSB Interview assesses intelligence and personality in two stages:
• Stage 1: Screening Test (Verbal, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and PPDT)
• Stage 2: Psychological Test, Group Testing, and Personal Interview
Candidates qualifying for Stage 1 proceed to Stage 2.
Shortlisted candidates must submit required documents before final selection. - Final Selection:
• Candidates are finally selected for the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA/NA based on:
• Performance in the written exam & SSB interview
